Jasper National Park may be quieter than its sister western playground, Banff, but its rugged beauty certainly makes it one of Canada’s most picturesque and romantic destinations. Located four hours from Banff, getting to Jasper—cruising down the Icefields Parkway where wildlife literally appears before your eyes—is half the fun! When in the mountains a lodge stay is a must and The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is one of the world’s best. A favourite escape of the glitterati—everyone from Marilyn Monroe to the Dixie Chicks and the Queen have slept here—this grand Canadian lodge is rustic and luxurious, offering the perfect escape from the everyday. Built in the 1920s, the Jasper Park Lodge has 446 guest rooms between the main lodge and the cabins. For the most luxurious stay at the lodge, book the spacious Outlook Cabin, which boasts a stunning view of Lac Beauvert. Though Jasper Park Lodge is a very active resort (hiking, biking, golfing, canoeing and more), it is also extremely peaceful. Sitting in a deck chair on the shores of Lac Beauvert on a lazy summer day is incredibly calming. For more info about the lodge visit fairmont.com.

I suggest skipping Jasper. JPL is extremely overated. And going to Banff and Lake Louise. The Chateau is well worth it!

It is beautiful however VERY costly. You cannot bring your own liquor and food. They are not adaptable to situations and charge $1500 for a ceremony on the grass by the lake on top of everything else.

I am getting married in Jasper in August 2010... My fiance and I spend a lot of time there on weekends (we live in edmonton) and it is truly the most gorgeous and quaint place you could find. The people are amazing there.
Unlike Banff and Lake Louise, Jasper is a quiet mountain town with a fraction of the tourism - and therefore is just an amazing place to meet with the little vendors (who are incredibly talented business people) and plan your dream wedding. A couple that I can mention is Cakes by Kim at the Bear's Paw bakery, Deb at Elysion Florals, and Allisen Charlten of ARC photography. I can't wait to see the fruits of their labour on my big day. The work they have shown me and their customer service is incredible.
Asides from the JPL which is VERY expensive there are other awesome options, I am getting married on the Tekarra Lodge property outside, and some of my guests are staying in their beautiful cabins (where Marilyn Monroe actually had to stay when the JPL kicked her out for dressing inappropriately! The articles with pictures are in their lodge!) and the reception and further accomodations are at the Sawridge - which is a gorgous inn and conference centre with the most beautiful atrium inside.
I can not wait for my wedding day, and I truly hope that more brides decide to visit Jasper to see the potential in this little town for their own day!
