A summer of weddings, barbecues and other special memories usually means a drawer full of photos this time of year – or in most cases, a folder full of image files on your computer. We know, you’ve been meaning to have them printed and your plan is to display them all in a special album but you just haven’t found the time.
It’s time to stop procrastinating. Robert Samuels, owner of Picture Me, an online retail store that specializes in e-framing, photo insertion and custom framing, says it’s important to put your photos in an album as soon as possible. In fact, Samuels says albums and scrapbooks should be compiled within a month or two of taking the photos so the memories are still fresh.
These days, preserving photos is both quick and easy. Ready to display your memories? Here’s what you need to keep in mind:
DO: Keep it together. Make sure albums are high quality and book-bound so pages don’t fall out and your album will last a lifetime.
DON’T: Use chemicals. Be sure the album has acid-free pages that won’t destroy photos over time.
DO: Be two-faced. Use two-sided tape to mount photos on the page easily and produce a clean look that won’t mark the photo.
DON’T: Procrastinate. Put pictures in an album within a month of developing to avoid misplacing them or forgetting the stories they tell.
DO: Make your mark. Hand-write personal notes and quotes next to photos to remember and preserve the story behind each photo.
Still don’t have time to round up your photos? Picture Me also offers e-framing options.
Simply select a frame from the website, upload your image and you’ll receive your framed display within 10 days.
