Weddingbells has the scoop on the hot colours for 2010. By Stephanie Gray
For those planning on redecorating or moving into a new abode, an easy and budget-friendly way to spruce things up is with paint. Colour experts from Farrow & Ball, the paint and wallpaper manufacturers, recently released their top colour trends for 2010. Here are four schemes to fit four different decorating styles.
1. Industrial
Ideal for those who lean towards a more modern style of decor, the colours in this scheme are inspired by industrial architecture. Primarily using muted tones that mimic natural materials like stone, clay, chalk and brick, you can balance out darker and dramatic hues with splashes of colour.
Try: A neutral like Setting Plaster No.231 for your walls and then accent with a citrus shade like Babouche No. 223.
2. Aquatic
Inspired by the elements, an aquatic colour palette works well in rooms where you want to create a tranquil, relaxing vibe, and is a great choice for turning your bathroom into a spa-like retreat.
Try: The soft Tunsgate Green No. 250 for your walls with Blue Ground No. 210 as an accent.
3. Urban
If you're the kind of couple who are the centre of your social circle, always throwing parties, and who enjoy making a statement with your decor, than this vibrant colour scheme is perfect for you.
Try: A soft grey, like Parma Gray No. 27 on your walls and then accent with a bold eggplant like Pelt No. 254.
4. Glamour
Evoke old Hollywood with rich and opulent shades that feel extravagant—perfect for the pair who leans towards decadent fabrics, glitzy accents and exotic influences. The key to this look is combining a multitude of colours. We envision this palette in a dining room or bedroom.
Try: Rich and bold Brinjal No. 222 for your walls and then accent with Pitch Blue No.220 or Porphyry Pink No. 49 (pictured).
