Orange Crush

Let this hot hue burst onto your wedding scene this season. By Roseanne Dela Rosa

Every year Weddingbells gets asked what colours or shades are in for the season. The answer is that although there are certain hues that are more prominent one year and not so much the next, there aren’t really any “trendy” colours. We always promote that it’s "Your day, Your way," so forego trends in favour of a palette you love that suits your taste and style. We recently talked to Sari Mintz of foryourparty.com, who is an expert in the meaning of colours and putting together bridal colour guides (pictured left). We asked Sari to give us her take on orange. Here are her thoughts on this warm shade:

“The colour orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement and stimulation. Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect and stimulates mental activity. It is highly accepted among young people.”

Fifty custom matchboxes starting at $57 (foryourparty.com); custom chinoiserie letterpress invitations starting at $9 (beforeyourparty.com); and 50 sets of custom save-the-date coasters starting at $101 (beforeyourparty.com).

Our upcoming wedding is showcasing orange as our theme color. We recently sent our invitations and everyone congratulated us for the originality and the sense of luxury that was coming out of them.

My bridesmaids are wearing orange dresses from Davids Bridal, they are beatiful, and yes everyone thinks we are nuts too! But it will look wonderful once it all comes together!
