Muskoka Wedding

Escape from the city and say "I do" at the perfect year-round wedding destination. By Stephanie Gray

Situated on beautiful Lake Rosseau in Muskoka, a mere two-and-a-half hours north of Toronto, is The Rosseau, a JW Marriott Resort & Spa (jwrosseau.com) that has it all. Newly opened, the year-round resort is the first in Muskoka to offer luxury rooms and amenities, plus restaurants and a full spa.

One of the resort highlights is the two-storey, 1,254 square-metre (13,500 square-foot) luxury spa offering a full range of esthetics, his-and-her lounges, 11 treatment rooms, a private pool and hot tub, and a hair salon. Having all these services under one roof makes it super convenient for your pre-wedding beauty regimen.

When it comes to the ceremony there are several options, including our favourite for a summer wedding, the outside lake-view lawn that can seat up to 400 guests. You'll get breathtaking pictures of you and your mister set against the lake backdrop.

For dining, their intimate restaurant Teca boasts an Italian menu, ideal for a romantic dinner á deux or for a small rehearsal dinner. For dinner and dancing, the choice is up to you. The Grand Ballroom, in a private wing of the hotel, is ideal for parties over 100, and also offers nearby outdoor terraces. Smaller parties will love the Junior Ballroom, featuring a lake-view terrace perfect for the cocktail hour. When it comes to the wedding night, we recommend booking yourself into a suite overlooking the lake where you can cozy up in front of a fireplace.

After the big day, fuel up with your guests for a delicious buffet breakfast at the Cottages restaurant. Another bonus is the area’s outdoor activities, including golf. What better way to help your wedding party become familiar with one another than with a round at The Rock, a par-17 course designed by PGA champ Nick Faldo?

We think The Rosseau is the perfect place to say, "I do," thanks to the incredible landscape, fantastic food, luxury spa services and the modern, yet cozy atmosphere. Bonus: your guests will love it too!
