In case you're not familiar with the Smart Cookies, now's the time to get acquainted. Inspired by an Oprah show on personal finance, the Smart Cookies were born when five women got together, formed a money group and decided to take control of their finances. Since then they’ve penned a hugely successful book, The Smart Cookies Guide to Making More Dough and Getting Out of Debt, and appeared as guests on numerous TV shows. Most recently, they’re set to launch their second book, The Smart Cookies Guide to Couples & Money, which will be released January 26. In this book, the Smart Cookies address the basics of life planning and investing, including techniques on how to talk to your partner about money and even getting out of debt. For many couples, talking about money can feel intimidating, but the reality is you need to address it before it ever becomes an issue. In other words, before you walk down the aisle and start a life together. Similar to their first book, the women draw upon their own personal experiences, offer realistic solutions and make money talk anything but boring. So don't let finances get in the way of your newlywed life and plan to get in financial shape before the big day.
Stay tuned for Alison's one-on-one interview with the Smart Cookies!
