For some couples, asking for kitchen accessories, linens or even furniture may not be necessary—either because you've lived together for years and have already accumulated home essentials, or because you would rather have your guests put their money towards something you really want. Thankfully, registries like Upon Our Star (uponourstar.com) allow guests to contribute money towards the wishes you desire.
How it Works: All you do is set up an account and your wedding wish gift registry—these are your wishes and the possibilities are endless!
Cost: There are no set-up costs, but when guests contribute to your registry, 2.5% will be withheld from your total funds and paid to the credit card companies to cover processing fees. Also, a $15 one-time payment will be paid directly to the bank, in order to set up a deposit so funds can be added directly to your bank account.
Tell Your Guests: Upon Our Star helps with this process by sending your selected guests an official e-Note directing them to your Wedding Wish Webpage.
Monitor and Collect: You will receive an email every time a guest makes a contribution. Your account will also show who has contributed, which wishes have been granted, and your total funds collected. Once your wedding date has passed, all you have to do is select "Collect My Funds" and your money gets deposited into your account.

What an amazing idea! I have so much crap already.... if I were to fill out gift registries I would end up picking stuff that I dont' really need. I much rather have the cash to fulfill my dreams!

No more registering for stuff I don't really need! Love this...

My wedding is coming up in less than a year and we've just started making some calls, I had no idea how much these things cost! We would prefer cash from our guests, but didn't know a tactful way to ask them - this looks like a great way to do so!!!

This is so perfect, now my friends and family can contribute to things we really need, like our first house or a dream honeymoon. Who needs another toaster! And it means way less trouble for our guests, through a safe and easy money transfer. I LOVE it!

We wanted to register for a couple of regular registry things like new cookware, but we also wanted a way to register for cash, so we ended up using myregistry.com. They have a cash gift fund option like this website, but you can also register for actual items from anywhere you want in the same place.

Woow... This sounds like music to me. Real music! Getting those gifts in their most versatile form is a real gift. From those gifts in their most flexible form, the newly web couple can decide "how" to use it, and "when" to use it, and "what" to buy with them. The newly wed couple can use those gifts to obtain the things they really "want" and that actually have a "need" for; instead of stuff from particular stores, resellers, merchants, promoters, or dealers. Most of the time, the wedding gifts end up helping this group of business dealers instead of the newly wed couple. It is just not fair.

Awesome! Love this!! We actually checked out other registries like myregistry, but didn't like their cash gift option, because it feels so blatant and tacky asking for "cash". I like that this site makes it all about the "wishes" instead of a heavy emphasis on the "cash" part of it ..... i won't end up offending any of our guests!
