Perhaps one of Shakespeare’s most beloved and romantic tales is that of Romeo and Juliet. The story of star-crossed lovers takes place in Verona, Italy’s city of love. Now the infamous balcony where Juliet called for her Romeo is looking for lovers.
City officials are opening the fabled House of Juliet so couples can tie the knot in true romance. The Casa di Giulietta, built in the 13th century, is a top tourist spot in the area and a truly unique wedding venue. Originally owned by the Cappello family who were possibly Shakespeare’s fictional Capulets, the building has long since been associated with the famous tale. Starting next month, the house will be open for ceremonies indoors or right below the balcony in the courtyard.
Of course, the site does not come without a cost. For couples living outside of Europe, expect to pay around $1,600 for your wedding, not including food and flowers. The city plans to eventually develop a full wedding package that would include hotel accommodations and floral arrangements.
