La Vie en Rose

Amber Harrison & Jeff Richman, May 20, 2007. By Roseanne Dela Rosa

About the Couple
Bride: Amber Harrison
Groom: Jeff Richman
Occupations: They are both entrepreneurs. They own Cool Green & Shady, a floral and home décor store, which Amber operates; and clearRoot Inc., a floral wire service software company that Jeff runs.
How they met: In high school. Amber was only 14 at the time and Jeff was 17. True high school sweethearts!
Fave date: Their very first date, when Jeff invited Amber to the football field for a picnic lunch.
What attracted him to her: “His outgoing personality.”
What attracted her to him: “Her long blonde hair and smile.”
Engagement story: They just kind of decided one day. Like everything in their life, they make all decisions together, and love doing so. Their wedding plans followed that rule.

The Wedding Day
Wedding date: May 20, 2007
Guests: 52
Motif: French and florals.
His best moment: “Standing at the altar, enjoying the warm sun and spring breeze, while admiring my beautiful bride standing next to me.”
What they would do differently: “There is only one minor thing we would change,” Jeff says. “When we walked down the aisle after the ceremony, we stood at the end saying hello to people. I wish we had thought of having our car at the end of the aisle and driving around the Glenerinn Circle driveway once and then getting back out and talking to people. Eccentric, but would have been fun.”

Advice to others: “Have photos beforehand; it helps the day last longer, and you have more time for really fun photos,” Amber says. “But if you do this, don’t stress if your dress gets a bit black before the ceremony, because it will and no one will notice.
Wedding song: “At Last” by Etta James, because it seemed fitting that we were getting married after twelve years of being together.
Her favourite wedding detail: “My dress and the flowers, of course!”
Her most unexpected moment: “Accidentally jumping out of my dress during one of the photos!”
Best surprise of the day: A beautiful suite at the SoHo Met, downtown.
What made her day: The look on Jeff’s face, during the ceremony. We have been together for twelve years, but his face told me he was still head-over-heels in love.
Honeymoon: We are going on one in January, something to still look forward to.
The day in three words: Beautiful. Rewarding. Unforgettable.
