If you’re like Hannah from Made of Honor and you’ve chosen your best male friend to stand next to you, then consider the following advice to ensure that he’s fully prepared for his role. Here are three things you should tell him to expect:
1) Planning the bachelorette. Like any other maid of honour, this is his one major task. Ease his woes by letting him know that, contrary to popular belief, many stagettes aren’t all about male strippers. Let him know that there are other bridesmaids who are willing to help and that he should plan something that everyone will enjoy.
2) Day-of co-ordination. Let him know that on the day of your wedding he is your main go-to guy. It’s his duty to be by your side and assist you with anything and everything. You may also want to assure him that he won’t have to bustle your dress or reapply your mascara (unless you or he would like to, of course!).
3) Main support. Since he is your best friend, it’s only fitting that you’ll be going to him to rant or to ask for assistance during the planning process. Let him know that you might be spending more time with him than usual and that you’ll be expecting him to help make many decisions along the way.
If your main man is still unsure about all the other duties involved, just send him a link to this story, which includes all the roles and duties that go hand-in-hand with being a maid (or man!) of honour.
