Want to know what’s hot in the world of wedding stationery? Weddingbells went straight to M.J. Fontaine, owner and designer of Carte Blanche Design (carteblanchedesign.com), and got the scoop on what’s hot this year. Here are four major trends M.J. is forecasting.
1. Paper. Stationery is going green. Expect to see a lot of environmentally friendly, earthy and organic stationery with a retro twist. (For some inspiring ideas, check out the Green Cards feature from the Spring & Summer 2008 issue of Weddingbells, on newsstands now).
2. Colour. Expect to see a lot of natural colours with an electric flair. You’ll also see a lot of neutrals complemented with bold yellow, apple, lime, fuchsia, lavender, eggplant or electric blues.
3. Style. Expect to see sleek paper designs paired up with monogram seals. Wrap-around bands are also huge for 2008.
4. Font. Lots of brides are starting to drift away from formal, script-like fonts and are opting for more casual letterings in bold colours.
