With so much buzz surrounding oxygen facials, I was thrilled to find out Los Angeles-based facialist Michelle Peck, who treats Madonna before every show, was going to be in town with the superstar. After getting my glow on at the Bay Dermatology Centre in Toronto, I had the chance to ask Michelle why a bride should consider adding Intraceuticals to her wedding beauty regime.
Weddingbells: Madonna’s skin has been looking better than ever. Is this just from the oxygen facials? Can you share what treatments you are performing on her that are making her look so radiant?
Michelle Peck: Madonna’s skin is flawless. I give her a Rejuvenate Oxygen Infusionwith Atoxelene (which is a natural amino peptide) before every performance.
WB: What can an oxygen facial do for a bride?
MP: Oxygen under pressure is applied directly to the skin’s surface—cooling and calming the skin while restoring skin’s natural vitality and glow. The application of pressurized oxygen helps increase hydration levels so that your skin will hold hydration and moisture in a completely new way. The Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusions are not really a facial and do not exfoliate or extract, so this is a very safe and reliable treatment for brides. Brides are often stressed out and not sleeping well and this shows in their skin—and since the treatment provides intense long-lasting hydration, which not only defines the facial contours but also gives the skin an extraordinary glow—photographs look amazing.
WB: Should a bride choose an oxygen facial over a “standard” facial treatment?
MP: I think it depends on timing—everyone can benefit from a deep pore cleansing facial but this cannot be performed too close to the wedding date—and for this reason an Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusion Treatment is an ideal treatment for the event. The skin is balanced and hydrated and since oxygen is a natural antibacterial, the skin does not break out.
WB: How should she incorporate oxygen facials into her pre-wedding skin regime? (i.e. Get a few sessions or one just prior to the big day.)
MP: I really like to give the skin at least three to six treatments to maximize the benefit and for this reason one treatment per week starting three to six weeks before the event would be ideal. The last treatment should be scheduled either the day of or the day before the wedding date. Please don’t forget the mother of the bride (or groom) since everyone will benefit from this treatment prior to photography.Everyone deserves the opportunity to look and feel their best on this special day.
WB: In general, how should a bride plan to prep her skin before the big day?
MP: I think a bride would be wise not to make any dramatic changes prior to the event, but if they want stunning skin then this program will absolutely deliver camera-ready skin. Six weeks before—have a cleansing facial with light exfoliation and extraction. Have a series of six Intraceuticals Rejuvenate Infusions (once a week) and have the sixth one the day before the event. Use the Rejuvenate Home Treatment products, which layer different types of Hyaluronic to intensify and maintain the effects of the treatment. Makeup will go on smoothly and the skin will reflect light beautifully.
