My husband planned our entire honeymoon. We rented a trailer, hitched it to the back of our truck and drove from Calgary to B.C. We visited with my grandma and then drove down into the USA to Oregon. The entire trip took about three weeks. On our way home, we drove through the Okanagan and visited some wineries.
He planned where we stayed every single night: in campgrounds for the whole trip, including one night on Oregon’s Crater Lake. It was a beautiful trip. (He also did all the driving.) We're avid fishers, so he had mapped out fishing spots for us to try at almost every location. We visited aquariums and national parks, and he willingly nodded his head when I wanted to stop at a cheese/ice cream factory (not something he was too excited about).

For our mini-moon right after the wedding, my husband planned the entire thing. Thank heavens! I hadn't planned on going away right after the wedding, just going straight back to work. About a month before our wedding, I celebrated my birthday: inside my card was a trip to Las Vegas. He had purchased the tickets and hotel for the Monday after our wedding. The whole idea was to see illusionist Criss Angel's Believe, and see the band Angels and Airwave perform live, as we had our first dance to their song “Breathe”. It was truly a great surprise.

Our entire honeymoon was a surprise. My guy planned it and I didn't find out where we were going until we arrived at the airport (it ended up being a balcony suite on Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas cruise to the Bahamas). He even took me swimming with dolphins in Nassau—something he knew I've always wanted to do. Best surprise ever!

Our honeymoon was in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), November 2007. Our first week there (our wedding week) was absolutely terrible. Everything that could go wrong did. A few days before we left to go back home he said he had a surprise for me.
The next morning he woke me up at 6:30 a.m. We went to the front lobby to wait for our ride. I was so excited—I had no idea what he was up to! Every time a bus or van pulled up he made me turn around so I didn't see it. Finally ours arrived and he made me close my eyes until we got on. After a long drive we got to Dolphin Island! He remembered! I had told him a long time before that if we ever went somewhere tropical I wanted to swim with dolphins.
During our wedding planning and the chaos that was our tropical wedding, it had completely slipped my mind. At this point in our trip I just wanted to go home. But here is my amazing new husband trying to make the best of our honeymoon and surprising me like this! It was the best day of our trip (besides actually getting married of course!). It made the last few days so great and I am so glad to have such an incredible man.

My husband and I were lucky enough to go to two different resorts for our honeymoon. When we arrived at the first one there was a lovely bouquet of flowers waiting in the room with a card from him telling me how happy he was to be married and to get to spend the rest of our lives together. What really got me was a week later when we changed islands and resorts. There was another bouquet of flowers with a new card waiting for me. This card told me we had now been married for nine days and he was "Sure in my heart they have been the best nine days of my life." With my carefully planned and executed wedding finally over, it was those two little cards that made me realize just how special my marriage was going to be. I'll always cherish them and my husband.

While discussing plans for our honeymoon, my now husband suggested he'd like to plan it as a surprise for me. I agreed, so he chose the destination and planned the entire thing himself. Everyone was so eager to find out where we were going—he refused to tell anyone—and it really helped build the excitement. We decided it would be fun for our friends and family to find out the destination at the same time as me, so during my husband's speech at our wedding, he said we would now be finding out where we were going. He then gave me a small gift. When I unwrapped it, it was a travel journal with the Eiffel Tower on it. I promptly screamed, "Paris!" and everyone in the room erupted in cheers! It was one of the highlights of the day and our photographers captured each moment of it. Of course, Paris was amazing. He did an unbelievable job of planning the perfect trip. I couldn't have done it better myself, and the effort he put in made it even more wonderfully special.

My husband planned our entire honeymoon. He didn't want the usual tropical vacation, knowing that sitting on a beach drives me crazy even though it's his idea of a good time. He planned a three-week adventure through Japan, and when I say adventure, I mean adventure!
We did everything from figuring out the Tokyo metro system to climbing Mount Fuji together. They are memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. The challenges we faced in those first three weeks as a married couple left no doubt in my mind that we will last forever. It was hot and humid (36 degrees and 80 percent humidity, anyone?), we usually had no idea what we were doing and we were sticky and stinky to boot, but we did it with humour and team work. That's the kind of man you need in a marriage.
