Whether you’re planning an eco-fete from start to finish, or incorporating small touches of green throughout your day, sifting through all the earth-friendly options can be overwhelming. To help you go green with ease, we asked Jaye Marsh Graham, event director of It’s Personal! Occasions and producer of Canada’s first Eco Wedding & Lifestyle Show, for her top three tips for planning a planet-friendly wedding.
1. Reduce Numbers
One of the very first eco-savvy steps you can take in planning your party is to keep your guest list small. This translates into less travel, less food, a smaller venue and less waste.
2. Save the Trees Please!
When it comes to invites, is it really necessary to have the outer and inner envelope, the return envelope and the return card? Instead, opt for an electronic invitation where guests can call or email their RSVP.
3. Know Your Venue
Don’t be afraid to ask how green your venue is. Green options can come in many forms such as donating leftover food, using recyclables where possible or using eco-friendly cleaning products when it comes to the cleaning and prepping of your locale.
