8 Bachelorette Parties

Weddingbells offers eight alternative ideas for stagette parties. By Roseanne Dela Rosa

As the maid of honour and bride’s best friend, it is your rightful duty to plan the bachelorette party. Remember, there’s no rule saying a stagette is all about strip clubs, cheap drinks and embarrassing memories. So, it’s time to take off the gloves (or cheesy veil and T-shirt) and get as creative as you want. A little tip to always keep in mind is to make this party all about the bride. Below are a few Weddingbells ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Far, Far and Away

If you’re not doing a destination wedding, try a destination stagette. Grab a whole bunch of the brides’ closest girlfriends and zoom or take off to a part-ay city, like Montreal, Las Vegas, Miami or New York. Have a fun weekend extravaganza, by hitting up the clubs, going on a shopping frenzy and checking out all the trendy restaurants. If the boys are doing it, then so should the girls!

Spa It Up

Take the entire gaggle of girls—mother, aunts and bridesmaids—off for some time away for well deserved R&R. Request the works, from a manicure and pedicure (with paraffin, of course) and while you’re at it, try one of those Swedish massages that you’ve always read and dreamt about. Getting every gal pal pampered like the princess we all are at heart is one way to keep planning stress to a minimum.

Fun in the Sun

Be silly. Be a kid. Pack up the girls and head to your nearest body of water to enjoy the frivolity of the beach, whether it’s playing volleyball, relaxing while working on your tan (with a minimum SPF 15, obviously) or splashing around in the water. Don’t forget to include everybody’s favourite margarita mixes and tasty munchies.

Shop ’Til You Drop

Nothing could be better than spending time with your closest gal pals and combining your most favoured hobby: shopping. Rent a limo and cruise around the city, hopping from one boutique store to another. Gush over the latest fab finds and finish the day off at the bride’s favourite restaurant.

Sleepover

Have a pyjama jam with cocktails, decadent desserts and good old chick flicks. Give the bride something to laugh over by giving gag gifts or presents that include sexy lingerie items for the honeymoon. Sleepovers are a great time to joke and gossip with your best buds before your wedding.

Tea Time

Throw the bride a sit-down lunch, with sandwiches, tea and tasty treats. Having tea can be a perfect event that includes all women, regardless of age. Now the bride can have her cake and eat it, too.
