Over the last few months I’ve heard of 15 engagements (some via Facebook), been invited to six weddings (this year and next) and asked to be a bridesmaid for two. Can you tell it’s been a busy year for moi? Working at Weddingbells has definitely put me in the spotlight when it comes to offering inspiration and advice to all my recently engaged girlfriends. One question that’s often asked by both the bride herself and the MOH (maid of honour) is what to do for bridal showers and/or bachelorettes.
Looking back over the last 25 years, I’ve noticed quite a shift from the all-nighters in Vegas to more creative and personalized parties catering to the bride’s taste. Don’t get me wrong, weekends in Vegas do exist, but locations have slightly altered to getaways like New York City (thank you Sex and the City) or Miami, or even a closer-to-home spot like Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. Alice in Wonderland and Pretty in Pink themes are all the rage. And, in terms of personalization, spa days, intimate dinners and high teas are the popular trend for showers these days. Whatever you do and wherever you go, remember girl’s day out should be a fun time for all filled with activities fitting to your style and personality. Enjoy!
