Today’s bridesmaids’ dresses are so chic that your best girls will definitely wear them again. Take a cue from the red carpet and the ready-to-wear runways to find the most stylish options. Here are a few of the biggest trends this season:
Silhouette
While they were once boxy and unflattering, bridesmaids’ dresses are now more figure-conscious and forgiving. The basic floor-length A-line dress gets an update with knee-length bubble hem minis, empire-waist goddess gowns and one-shoulder sheaths taking centre stage.
Embellishment
The latest dresses for bridesmaids are anything but basic. Styles featuring delicate ruffles and super-feminine rosettes are all the rage. Even subtle details (delicate trim or a complementary sash) can elevate a simple frock to the next level.
Colour
Bright cobalt blue makes its mark. Pretty pale pastel hues of grass green and buttercup yellow are also popular. Shades of grey are a fresh alternative to black, while navy blue feels like a modern take on tried-and-true chocolate brown.
Fabric
In terms of fabrics, flirty florals give solid colours a run for their money. Ombré (fabric that fades from dark to light) also looks thoroughly à la mode. Choose natural materials that are light, airy and breathable (silk faille, chiffon, cotton) instead of the scratchy polyester blends of the past.
