Editor’s Note: September 2010

Fall may be just around the corner, but at Weddingbells we’re already thinking spring. By Alison McGill

We are currently working on our Spring & Summer 2011 issue, so we are well over the joys of autumn and are all about fresh and pretty spring things. Now, of course, I can’t give away any of our secrets—you will have to wait until the issue comes out in mid-December to see exactly what has our hearts racing for weddings in 2011, but I can drop a few hints.

 • Heavenly tulle dresses. Oh, if you could see this Vera Wang we’ve just shot. It is to die for. Think clouds of tulle as airy as meringue all cinched with a gorgeous grosgrain ribbon belt. It embodies my favourite spring gown trend: ultra-feminine.

Coloured diamonds. Thanks to Tiffany & Co., we’re having a love affair with yellow diamonds. Beginning in September, the jeweller has some gorgeous new yellow diamond rings and other pieces in store. Tiffany inspired us to explore the world of fancy diamonds and we are completely dazzled.

Boho-beautiful parties. Just wait until you see Rosie’s mind-blowing reception shoot. There are a million gorgeous ideas in just a few pages. Let’s just say we’re all about turquoise, twinkle lights and lanterns.

• Statement bridal beauty looks. No, you don’t have to wear barely there makeup on your wedding day. You can still rock colour or cat’s eyes. Trust us—we’ll show you how.

Travel registries. Yes, you can register for a honeymoon and the good news is there are now so many places you can do that! Finding the best places is just the kind of research we love to do!

Sorry, I have to stop now or I will give away too much from our spring issue. If you haven’t picked up your Fall & Winter 2010 issue (click here to get more web exclusive content from our issue), do it now to tide you over until our spring one hits newsstands.

Hi Alison. Just a little note from an old teacher. I saw you on Canada AM this morning discussing wedding gifts. Great job! Congratulations on your position as editor. What a real beauty you turned out to be. You can't imagine how proud this old teacher is of your success. It is wonderful to see what you have all become.

All the best in your future endeavours.

Hi Alison,

If you're doing future segments on Wedding Gifts, Oxfam Canada has got a rather unique and unusual gift registry... Guests can choose from goats, donkeys, latrines, emergency kits, women's training, girls' education, etc. We've got gifts of peace and seed packets for wedding favours and "disaster preparedness kits" to thank the bridal party. Check it out! www.oxfamunwrapped.ca

Cheers,
Karen Palmer
