When it comes to looking flawless, Naomi Watts is one woman who’s got it down to a fine science. Her hair and skin: always impeccable. Her fashion sense: classic Hollywood glamour girl, and she rarely strays from that look—she knows it works and knows how to work it! We recently had a chance to chat with Naomi—who is the new face of Thierry Mugler’s wildly popular fragrance Angel—who spilled her secrets for always looking fabulous and how it feels to be the spokesmodel for such a famous fragrance.
Weddingbells: For most women, their wedding is their red-carpet moment of a lifetime. How do you get red-carpet ready? Can you share some of your tips with me?
Naomi Watts: Wearing a dress that’s very feminine and glamorous is a must to make you feel beautiful. Also, wearing a gorgeous scent gets you in the mood—my fragrance of choice, of course, is Angel.
WB: Speaking about Angel, how does it feel to be the face of this famous fragrance? Can you describe who the Angel woman is and what makes this heavenly beauty tick?
NW: This is the first time that I have been chosen for a perfume campaign, and I have to say it’s very flattering to be associated with a brand such as Thierry Mugler. As a woman, it’s very flattering that someone still wants to use your face to market a perfume when you are forty! As for the Angel woman, she is someone feminine and angelic, of course, who likes to exist in a sort of fantasy world. That's how I see it and when you see the shape of the perfume bottle, a star, it feels very fantasy-driven. I feel the scent itself appeals to many different types of women—young, not so young, career-oriented, strong, glamorous and sexy. It doesn’t feel limited in any way.
WB: Do you think it’s important for a woman to have a signature scent? One she even wears on her wedding day?
NW: Yes, I think it is very important! For me with Angel, which is my signature scent, I love it because it’s feminine and classic, but also has a lot of glamour and power—all characteristics I value. The first time I smelled it, the sweetness of the scent reminded me of some caramel candies I couldn’t get enough of when I was a little girl. It is a very sentimental fragrance for me.
WB: In addition to your signature scent, what are a few other beauty essentials you have to have for a big night out?
NW: As somebody who is often photographed, sometimes I have to carry more in my clutch than I would like! My must-have beauty product is the Thierry Mugler Camouflaging Palette, which comes with four colours to hide any skin imperfections. Also, I have to have the new Thierry Mugler Rouge Unique lipstick. The stick is blue, but when you put it on your lips it becomes a pinky, natural rosy tone that lasts forever. It’s magical and simply fantastic!
WB: You mention being photographed a lot. Any tips on how to take a great picture?
NW: I always try to be myself and embrace my femininity. Be confident, natural and glamorous and you’ll look gorgeous!
