Jessica Wong and Vanessa Lee know a thing or two about cooking in style.
Friends since high school, the entrepreneurs extraordinaires faced a dilemma four years ago while planning a party. They envisioned cooking up a storm in cute but practical aprons; yet they were nowhere to be found.
That’s when the business-savvy pair took it upon themselves to solve the apron dilemma and created Domistyle. The company has enjoyed tremendous success since its launch, and has women looking fabulous while they fry (and sexy while they serve!) in a variety of adorable aprons.
“We’ve been pleasantly surprised,” says Wong of the company’s success. “It took us by surprise how much people responded to it.”
Featuring organic designs with lots of florals and leaves, Wong says Domistyle creations are inspired by magazines, textile museums, the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
The stylish aprons are now sold in over 90 stores across Canada, 30 in the United States and online. Retailing at around $40, the aprons are both affordable and durable.
“We didn’t want something stiff and hard, but something wearable that fits like a garment and is stylish but functional,” says Wong.
“The aprons are made of a poly-cotton, so they don’t suck in the stains as much as 100% cotton. They are machine washable and dryable, plus have very little wrinkling so you don’t need to iron them,” she adds.
Wong and Lee are also in the process of creating a men’s line, which is sure to have your groom looking marvelous while he marinades. You, on the other hand, can prove that your baking isn’t the only thing in the kitchen looking delicious!
