Just as some new accessories can freshen up a tired outfit, the smallest home decor accents can revitalize your living space. If you’re drowning in debt from your wedding and honeymoon, big-ticket items might not be in the budget, but that doesn’t mean you can’t jazz up your everyday surroundings.
If you can’t splurge on the leather couch of your dreams, your old sofa can be made over with the addition of some decorative pillows. Similarly, a new area rug can add some much-needed visual interest to a room. Also, a stylish lamp can really update your coffee table or desk.
Another cheap but chic design idea is to hang pictures in an eye-pleasing arrangement. On a recent trip to bridal boutique, White Toronto, Weddingbells was inspired by beautiful framed prints which turned out to be gold wallpaper treated to a coat of white paint. So if you have wallpaper or fabric remnants left over, pop them in an ornate frame, and voila, instant art.
