The rules of travel, specifically how many bags you can carry on and what size they have to be, have been in a state of constant flux for the past several weeks. Up until late January, absolutely no carry-on baggage was permitted on any flights into the US, but on January 19th Transport Canada revised this policy and is currently allowing one carry-on bag AND one personal bag such as a small purse. So you know what you can bring with you on that honeymoon flight to Hawaii, here’s Transport Canada’s latest breakdown.
• One carry-on bag is permitted per passenger. The maximum dimensions for the carry-on bag are 23cm x 40 cm x 55 cm (visualize a small gym bag). Your carry-on may not exceed a weight of 10 kg and must fit into the airport security carry-on baggage sizer.
• In addition to your carry-on bag, one of the following will be permitted: a small purse, or laptop or camera bag. Note your laptop bag should only contain your laptop and related accessories.
Other carry-on additions that have been deemed permissible:
• A cane, walker, crutches or other life-sustaining items
• Medical equipment (oxygen tank, doctor’s bag)
• Diaper bags and other essential items for those carrying infants
• A musical instrument
• Pets
• All duty-free items purchased after the security check
