Lingerie type: Demi-cup, three-quarter and full-cup bras
The Perfect fit: A balconet (demi-bra) is best for smaller breasts. The three-quarter bra works for breasts between sizes and denser breasts needing added support. Full-cup bras are ideal for larger sizes needing extra lift.
Wear under: Gowns with sleeves or square or low-cut necklines, as these bras are less constricting than the full-body armour of all-in-one combos, yet give more support than strapless.
Heat Meter: Hot. Possibly the sexiest bra available, the demi-bra gives lift while barely covering the nipple. The three-quarter and full-cup offer more coverage, but who said safe can’t be saucy?
Lingerie type: Strapless bra
The Perfect fit: Most strapless bras are convertible thanks to detachable straps. Lingerie experts La Senza recently introduced an innovative new model called Dreamshapers, which features strap-free underwire cups that fasten to the skin with clear plastic wings. These styles work best if you have firm, perky breasts and your cups don’t runneth over.
Wear under: If your dress is racy enough to break all the rules, barely there underwire ’n’ tape is the ticket. But if you’re squeamish about removing adhesive tape or worried about lack of support, do a trial run before the wedding day.
Heat Meter: Hot. Minimalists will love these slinky numbers—especially paired with sexy thong undies.
Lingerie type: Corset & bustier
The Perfect fit: Bustier: close-fitting, sleeveless, often strapless bodice or top worn to shape and support the torso, with underwire that’s perfect for small to mid-sized breasts. Corset: sits just underneath the bust and must be worn with a bra that’s great for medium breasts.
Wear under: Low-cut, strapless, backless, spaghetti-strap or risqué gowns. Either model may have front or back closures; front closures enable the bride to dress herself.
Heat Meter: Extra spicy. A bustier can be worn on its own like a top. A corset can be super sexy when the bra is removed.
Lingerie type: Corselette and merry widow
The Perfect fit: Corselette: a corset and brassiere combo, usually waist-length. Merry widow: frillier, usually lace-trimmed, with attached stocking garters and a bra-and-waist-support combo offering great underwired support for any size.
Wear under: Gowns with straps or sleeves, or frocks made of thick, opaque fabric. Warning: back-lacing can be constricting and difficult to undo.
Heat Meter: Super spicy. A corselette gives greater coverage than a corset with lots of sex appeal, and
the saucy merry widow’s lace-and-garter combo is the essence of sexy.
