Tips and Taxes
Whether it’s the catering staff or the limo driver, chances are you’ll tip them. Keep this cost in mind when looking at your budget. Tipping anywhere from 10 to 20 percent is customary and tips and taxes are almost never included in the quote vendors give you.
Corkage
If you’re bringing your own alcohol to the reception, ensure you inquire about corkage fees. Many venues will charge you a fee to open bottles of wine and champagne. These fees typically run on a per bottle basis and can quickly add up—sometimes to the point where it’s cheaper to go with the package the venue provides.
Cutting Fee
Check with your venue to see if they will charge to cut your wedding cake. Some places charge per slice and if you plan on serving coffee with the cake, they may charge a pouring fee.
Valet
Find out if your reception or ceremony venue has paid parking, and if so, don’t forget to factor those fees into your budget. Also, don’t forget about valet parking. The tab and tip involved in valet parking is something that you and your mister are supposed to pick up.
Small Stuff
It can all add up really quickly! Some small costs you may want to keep in mind:
-
Stamps and postage costs can sometimes run up to a few hundred dollars.
-
If you’re having an outdoor wedding, in a local park for example, there are various licences and permits you need to pay for.
- Gifts are an area you may overlook. Gifts for your wedding party and wedding favours for guests can quickly add up!
