Pre-Wedding
- Assists in any way he can throughout the wedding planning process.
- Hosts a stag party (optional) or co-hosting a pre-wedding "Stag and Doe" party with the maid of honour (optional).
- Attends all pre-wedding parties, including any Jack-and-Jill showers, and the rehearsal dinner, if any.
- Assists the groom with the formalwear arrangements.
Wedding Day - The Ceremony
- Reviews the day's duties with the ushers.
- Makes sure all ushers received a boutonniere.
- Makes sure all ushers arrive on time, well ahead of the guests and the start of the ceremony.
- Makes sure the groom is properly dressed and at the church on time.
- Takes care of the bride’s wedding ring until it's time for the ring-exchange.
- Signs the marriage license as a witness.
- Sees that the officiator, organist, etc. are discreetly paid.
Wedding Day - The Reception
- Makes sure the ushers are seating guests properly at the reception (if applicable).
- Gives the first toast and reads aloud any emails/special messages of guests that could not be in attendance.
- Assumes the role of Master of Ceremonies (optional).
- Dances with the Maid/Matron of Honour for the first dance
- Mingles with guests and makes introductions.
- Arranges transportation or personally drives the bride and groom to the hotel or the airport.
Post-Wedding Day
- Sees to it that all formalwear is returned.
