Weddingbells interviewed 10 brides who tied the knot in 2008, and asked them to reveal one wedding moment that made their day extra-special. For those of you that are smack-dab in the middle of wedding planning—this is the perfect time to take a break and get inspired by these lovely ladies. And, if you’re recently engaged, here are ten examples of why you should look forward to your own big day:
Weddingbells asked: Tell us your best wedding-day moment.
1. “Standing inside the front door of McLean House when I was about to walk down the aisle. My dad beside me, looking out at the guests and seeing all of my favourite people together, and then seeing Vavek standing at the front smiling. I kept thinking, ‘Oh my God, this is perfect. It’s really happening!’”
– Caroline Bishop, June 14, 2008
2. “When he cried the moment he saw me. I started to cry, too. It was very emotional and absolutely wonderful.” – Leslie Gordon, May 30, 2008
3. “When we were dancing our first dance—a waltz—that we had practiced for the first time at 11 p.m. the night before the wedding.”
– Elizabeth Pyshnov, August 2, 2008
4. “The anticipation of seeing Joey waiting for me at the church. And, the whole morning’s routines: getting my hair done, putting on the dress—I was giddy all morning!” – Julie Paniccia, July 5, 2008
5. “The moment I called him my husband for the first time.” – Michelle Giroux, August 3, 2008
6. “For both of us it was when our photographers finally told Brett that he could turn around and see me for the first time!” – Alania Mackay, August 2, 2008
7. “Dorky but typical, it was the first time I saw Josh. We chose to do pictures before the ceremony, because we knew the night would go by so quickly, and we just wanted to be present and soak it all in.” – Tara Spencer-Nairn, April 19, 2008
8. “Walking down the aisle with my parents, while hearing my friends singing the wedding processional.” – Charishe Amante, May 3, 2008
9. “Getting to watch Brandon walk out with his parents from the room I was hiding in before the ceremony. It was such a surreal feeling knowing that I would get to marry him in five minutes.” -Amanda McDougall, August 3, 2008
10. “Around 1:30 in the morning, we went to the exact place where we had said our vows. We stood back and stood in the same spot and just looked around. We looked into the library and looked into the reception room and took it all in. It was a stolen moment that we’ll never forget.” – Cheryl Hickey, October 19, 2008
