Bermuda Fast-Facts

Famous for pink sand beaches and turquoise waters, spend your honeymoon in captivating Bermuda.

Geography:
Bermuda consists of close to 200 islands and islets. Located in the western Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North Carolina, it's surrounded by the world's most northerly coral reefs.

Currency:
The Bermuda dollar, which is equivalent in value to the U.S. dollar. The U.S. dollar is accepted throughout Bermuda at face value. Major credit cards and U.S.-dollar traveler's cheques are also widely accepted.

Weather:
Subtropical Bermuda is blessed with comfortable temperatures year-round. Daytime temperatures average 27 degrees celsius in the summer months and 21 degress celsius throughout the rest of the year.

Transporation while there:
There are no rental cars. Instead, visitors must rely on bus and ferry service, taxis, scooters and bicycles. Bermudians drive on the left-hand side of the road. Horse-drawn carriages are a romantic way to see the sights.

Accommodations:
From luxurious resorts and cottage colonies to econmical apartments and quaint bed-and-breakfasts, a wide variety of accommodations are available.

Culture:
Named for Spain's Juan de Bermudez, this self-governing British colony was first settled in the early 17th century. Today, the historic Town of St. George, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a good place to learn about Bermuda's storied past.

Activities:
Bermuda is a nature lover's paradise. In addition to the popular activities of scuba diving, snorkeling, golf and tennis, visitors can enjoy hiking, bird-watching, horseback riding and even caving. There are also numerous shops, restaurants, art galleries, museums and performing arts centres to enjoy.

Beaches:
From flat, sandy expanses to secluded coves, there is no shortage of beautiful beaches in Bermuda. Pink sands and turquoise waters provide a colourful feast for the eyes.

Romantic Notes:
True romantics can search out one of the islands' many moongates. Legend says that couples who kiss under one of these coral and stone archways will find good fortune and happiness in their lives together.
