Having gorgeous nails on your wedding day is a bridal beauty must. Your hands will be front and centre on your day, so of course you want them looking fabulous! To get the scoop on what’s hip and haute for wedding-day nails we asked Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, executive vice-president and artistic director of OPI, who was recently in Toronto to unveil OPI’s spring lineup of shades—the Hong Kong Collection. Here are Weiss-Fishmann’s dos and don’ts for picture-perfect wedding nails.
• DO get a manicure! “I suggest a coloured lacquer and a top coat for nails to make them look perfectly polished. Have your nails done the day before your wedding and also choose a polish to pack for your honeymoon to refresh your nails.”
• DO have a trial run with your manicurist to select your wedding-day shade.
• DO pick a pretty, feminine shade for your nails. “I recommend pinks and beiges. Stick with muted shades that don’t compete with the rest of your look.”
• DON’T try super-dark shades or trendy colours on your nails. “If you love the look of blue or green, save it for your toes!”
• DON’T wear your nails too long. “Short nails look modern and clean. I recommend a neat ‘squoval’ shape for them, which is a combination of square and oval.”
• DO consider a French manicure. “This is still a popular choice for many brides, and I love how simple the look can be.”
• DO check out the new Hong Kong Collection! “There are definitely a few shades that are perfect for brides. I love Panda-monium Pink, Lucky Lucky Lavender and Pearl of Wisdom. All are soft, subtle shades that are perfectly on trend for spring 2010.”
* The Hong Kong Collection by OPI is available exclusively at salons and spas on February 3, 2010.

I wore Canberra’t Without You with Significant Other Color on top for my wedding manicure. It's a fab wedding color.
