Fairmont is opening the doors to 11 new hotels around the world, in some of the most exotic locations! A few particularly exciting ones slated to open in the coming months:
• The Savoy, A Fairmont Hotel: Originally opened in 1889, The Savoy is not a new hotel, but it is going to look it once it reopens late this spring after a two-year closing for renovations and restoration. The hotel, which has played host to many famous faces—everyone from Monet to Monroe—promises to be a perfect merging of old and new, with the world-famous Savoy Grill returning, now under the operations of super-chef Gordon Ramsay.
• Fairmont Beijing: Built in the heart of the city’s downtown, the hotel is close to famous landmarks including the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square. The hotel itself (slated to open this winter) will feature 222 guest rooms plus a 10,000 square-foot Willow Stream Spa.
• Fairmont Mont Kenya Safari Club: One of Kenya’s most famous safari retreats, the former private haven of movie star William Holden, is undergoing extensive renovations and will be opened as a Fairmont in early 2009. Located at the base of Mt. Kenya (the second highest mountain in Africa), the property features 120 villas and suites, a nine-hole golf course, pool, tennis courts and wildlife-watching adventures.
• Fairmont Nile City: Imagine being able to see world wonders like the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza from your room? This is just one of many luxuries in store at Fairmont’s exclusive Cairo address set to open in summer 2009. The hotel itself will house 574 rooms, four restos, four bars and lounges, a rooftop pool and patio, and an exclusive Fairmont Gold floor.
