A Crafty Backyard Wedding in Montreal

real weddings

Marie-Paule and Alexandre grew up in the same neighbourhood and went to the same elementary school, but nothing romantic developed between them until they reconnected at a friend’s birthday in 2006. That chance encounter was the beginning of something special, and before long they knew they were meant to be. On a five-day trek through the Italian Alps, Alexandre decided to make things official, and asked Marie-Paule to marry him. They celebrated in Italy and Venice before heading home to start planning their crafty backyard wedding. The duo knew instantly that they wanted to host their crafty backyard wedding ceremony in Alexandre’s parents’ yard. “They did a lot of work in the garden,” Marie-Paule laughs. “And it was just perfect for our intimate celebration.”

A Vintage Wedding in Edmonton, Alberta

real weddings

Passion and personal touches were central to Alise and Nathan’s beautiful yellow and grey vintage wedding day. The couple, who met at a mutual friend’s birthday party, celebrated with 140 friends and family at The Glendale Golf and Country Club—a lush green golf club that was perfect for their vintage wedding day. The celebration was filled with personalized details, ranging from Nathan’s handwritten vows (which he expertly memorized) and the couple’s choice of wedding song (“Sparks” by Coldplay from the soundtrack to one of their favourite movies Wedding Crashers) to Alise’s genuine vintage wedding veil, a gift from her grandmother who had worn it to her own wedding 56 years ago. “After giving the veil a little TLC, it was a perfect match for my dress,” Alise explains. “It was such a special thing to be able to wear it on my wedding day.”
