Sleek, simple silhouettes prevailed at Amsale. The Spring 2013 collection featured classic shapes updated for the modern bride with special touches like playful peplum ruffles, shoulder straps that tied into oversized bows at the back, and lace overlays a-la Kate Middleton. Amsale also showed a range of pretty mauve bridesmaid gowns perfect an outdoor soiree.

Alfred Angelo Spring 2013

Fashion & Beauty » Wedding Dresses

At Alfred Angelo classic white wedding gowns shared the runway with fashion-forward black-and-white creations. We absolutely loved the touches of black lace and embroidery, and the white ballgown with the intricate black shrug particularly caught our fancy! In addition to bridal gowns, the Spring 2013 Alfred Angelo show also included stylish bridesmaid options. Sparkly little black dresses would be perfect for an evening wedding, while bright pops of colour (in shades of coral and hot pink) scream preppy garden wedding.

Ines Di Santo Spring 2013

Fashion & Beauty » Wedding Dresses

Nobody makes a ballgown like Canadian bridal designer extraordinaire Ines Di Santo, and for Spring 2013 there were certainly some breathtaking options for the modern princess bride. Noteworthy ballgowns included a beauty with a beaded bodice and full tulle skirt, a grand deep ivory gown and a charcoal grey number covered in sparkles—a true show-stopper! Besides ballgowns Di Santo showed some truly beautiful mermaid silhouettes that were fitted to perfection, as well as some sassy short dresses that would be perfect for partying all night long.

Evoking the dreamy look of a garden in full bloom, the Spring 2013 collection from Christos was all about romance. Kenneth Pool Spring 2013

Fashion & Beauty » Wedding Dresses

Designed for the consummate glamour girl, Kenneth Pool’s Spring 2013 collection offered a silhouette for every bride. Ethereal bejeweled sheathes were followed by stunning trumpet shapes then voluminous ballgowns — all equally dramatic. The sweetheart neckline carried throughout the collection as did kind of feminine detailing that has made the line a favourite.

Badgley Mischka Spring 2013

Fashion & Beauty » Wedding Dresses

You can always count on Badgley Mischka to bring the glamour, and this designer duo’s Spring 2013 collection certainly didn’t disappoint. Sexy and slinky slip dresses look red-carpet-ready, while tiers of tulle and lace (with pretty beaded detailing) are classically bridal with a fashionable twist. As a fresh alternative to strapless, we loved the beautiful bejeweled cap sleeves that were seen on both a full ballgown silhouette and a sleek sheath.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2013

Fashion & Beauty » Wedding Dresses

Inspired by the iconic photographs of Cecil Beaton, Carolina Herrera produced a chic and sophisticated bridal collection with plenty of fabulous options for the fashion-forward bride, including a slinky Pippa Middleton-inspired cowl-neck dress (see above), a daring pant suit, and an adorable knee-length frock. We also spotted some of the season’s major trends, such as sparkle, lace and peplum detailing, but Herrera is definitely breaking new ground with her exquisitely hand-painted ballgowns and impeccable tailoring. From classic to trend-setting, there’s something for every type of bride in this beautiful collection.

Always a favourite on the bridal fashion week runways, Reem Acra, again, did not disappoint. This season the designer’s dreamy silhouettes and crystalline fabric choices were further enhanced with clever mix and match pieces. For the finale of the runway show models removed exquisite tiers of tulle to reveal stunning form-fitting gowns and minis perfect for the dance floor.

Vera Wang Spring 2013

Fashion & Beauty » Wedding Dresses

Vera Wang’s gothic black and nude gowns were the talk of bridal fashion week during the Fall 2012 shows and the designer continued to push the envelope with her Spring 2013 offering. Once again there wasn’t a white gown in sight. Instead, we saw frothy skirts and form-fitting bodices in every shade of red imaginable from bold vermilion red to deep burgundy — a true homage to the colour of love. And it wasn’t just colour that set these gowns apart: Wang’s playful embellishments, sumptuous ruffles and shimmering embroidered accents made the Spring 2013 collection utterly swoon-worthy.
