DIY Wedding Ideas From Cakes To Centrepieces

planning

Taking the time to add a few DIY elements to your wedding not only gives your big day some added personal flair, it can also save you a bundle. Buy an inexpensive dress and use antique jewellery to add some glamour to the gown. Make your own table numbers in a few easy steps, opt for a candy bar instead of favours and choose a simple cake topped with some pretty blooms. Our favourite DIY idea of all comes from a recent real wedding we featured — ask your guests to pick wildflowers and create their own centrepieces in memory of a loved one — it’s a touching tribute and a wonderful way to work homemade elements into your wedding day.

Colour is a big story this season for nails, but there is also a movement back to barely-there shades. “Mannequin hands,” featuring nails in nude, soft brown, pink, peach or super-light greige tones were a trend seen on many spring 2012 runways and one we love for brides. Just like nude heels elongate your legs, nude nails have the same effect on your fingers, which makes for a most elegant, ladylike finish.
