Next to your dress, your hair is probably the most important style issue you have to worry about for your wedding day. It’s something you need to start thinking about at least six months before the day and having a stylist in your corner who will be in charge of your hair leading up to the event and day-of is key. To get the scoop on having the most gorgeous wedding day hair possible, I asked Eric Del Monaco, official hair artist and colourist for L’Oreal Paris and the creative genius behind the runway looks for Toronto’s LG Fashion Week for his wedding hair dos and don’ts. The 17 Items You’ll Need To Keep Guests Comfortable During Your Reception

planning » planning » Reception Ideas

Keeping SOS kits in your reception hall bathrooms for guests is a great way to keep everyone comfortable and looking fresh and fabulous well into the night. Remember, most of your female friends will be trading their everyday spacious carryalls for tiny clutch purses, so basket of essentials on hand that can help guests fix hair and makeup, repair runs in pantyhose, and bandage heels after long nights of dancing in new shoes will be much appreciated.

Here’s a great list of must-haves for any wedding reception bathroom:

Bandages
First aid kit (antiseptic wipes, tweezers, gauze)
Breath mints/gum
Deodorant (opt for aerosol for hygienic reasons)
Tampons
Lint brush
Tide To Go instant stain remover
Hairspray
Hair pins/elastics
Blotting sheets
Sewing kit
Clear nail polish
Nail files
Safety pins
Antacid tablets
Static Guard
Shoe polish

The rumour mill has been churning overtime this week (and it’s only Wednesday!) with news of celebrity couples announcing their engagements—and other pairs calling it quits before making it to the altar. Need help keeping track of it all? Here’s our guide to the biggest engagements (and breakups) of the past few days:

NEWLY ENGAGED

Shannon Tweed & Gene Simmons

After insisting he wasn’t the marrying kind, KISS star Gene Simmons popped the question to long-time lady love Shannon Tweed during a romantic getaway in Belize. The proposal aired last night on the couple’s A&E reality show, Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels. Tweed and Simmons have been together for more than 25 years and have two grown children together.

Carey Mulligan & Marcus Mumford

Actress Carey Mulligan and musician Marcus Mumford (of Mumford & Sons) met last February when he invited her to a private gig. The proposal reportedly happened over the weekend in Somerset, England at a posh hotel and country club. Mulligan was seen on the property sporting a beautiful diamond ring. We love Ms. Mulligan’s style and can’t wait to see what she wears for her trip down the aisle. Yesterday we picked some fabulous dress options for her(check them out here).

CALLING IT QUITS

Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler

Just days ago we blogged about Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler’s wedding registry, but now they’re through: and rumour has it Cavallari (of Laguna Beach and The Hills fame) is the one who got dumped. She was spotted at an L.A. nightclub on Saturday night without her engagement ring. To add insult to injury, photos have just surfaced on the Internet of Cavallari posing in wedding dresses. Ouch!

Kat Von D & Jesse James

Kat Von D and Jesse James, who were engaged in January, confirmed yesterday that their plans for a summer wedding are off, and they are no longer together. The cause of the split up? Reportedly the two could no longer maintain their long-distance relationship—Von D films her show LA Ink in Los Angeles, while James resides near Austin, Texas. We can’t help thinking this breakup is probably for the best—James doesn’t exactly have the most stellar marital track record…
